There’s no better method of delivering cosmetic surgery advertising than through an educational video. For your patients, it’s convenient and helpful to be able to learn about the exact topic they want to learn more about. The goal of your videos should be to educate your patients and provide them with the highest quality information. Their desire to schedule an appointment with you will be the end result. Since PowerPoint is an excellent presentation tool, you can use it to deliver a concise, educational video right to your patients from your Web site. Here’s how to do it.
First, you’ll need to develop a script for your PowerPoint presentation. If you’ve never written a script, don’t worry! You don’t need to be a stand-up comedian or have earned a Pulitzer prize in order to create an excellent and engaging script. Here are some guidelines regarding what to include:
-
- Start with asking some introspective questions that will help them to see why your current patients come in for that particular procedure. If you are doing an abdominoplasty video, for example, you might describe who an ideal candidate would be. In the form of some pointed questions, talk about some of the complaints you hear from patients who have lost a great deal of weight or who have had children and are left with slack muscles and sagging skin. Your prospective patients will immediately relate to what you’re describing because they will see a reflection of themselves in your very first few slides.
- Next, your script should educate your viewers about what the procedure entails. You can include details about where the incision will occur (or the various places where an incision can be made, in the case of a breast augmentation for example). Also let them know what exactly is done during the procedure such as “the excess skin is removed from the lower abdomen and the ends of the incision are brought together to give you tight, smooth skin.”
- Be sure to explain to your patients that not everyone heals in the same manner or has zero complications, but that the average patient experiences “X” amount of days or weeks of tenderness, “X” amount of time using drains, etc. These factors will help them to realistically prepare for the healing phase of that procedure.
- Be sure to give your patients the benefit of learning what other patients of yours have to say about having that procedure done. You’ll want to have a few written testimonials ready so you can share them. If you don’t currently have any testimonials. You can ask your staff to contact some recent patients or speak with patients who come in for follow-ups so you can complete your script.
- If none of the templates that come with PowerPoint are what you are looking for, you can get free template backgrounds and music clips from sites like http://www.templatewise.com/ or http://www.poweredtemplates.com/. They are both very easy to use.
- Keep your video concise and to the point. If something in your script doesn't need to be there, then it's better to remove it than risk losing your patient's interest before they get to the end.
- Upload your video to YouTube (it must be under ten minutes in length) and then embed the video into your site wherever you want to. Simply drop the HTML code in the place where you want the video to play.
